The impact of MiFID II’s RTS6 on Algorithmic traders and firms offering DEA are extensive, and with barely 6 months til the January ’18 deadline, industry professionals gathered at this over-subscribed event to discuss the challenges of governance – documentation, training, kill-switches – and the specifics of the requirement to monitor trading activity in real-time.

Opened by keynote Dr Anthony Kirby, the audience went on to hear from a panel of senior industry practitioners at this Chatham House forum.

Several common themes emerged. The applicability of RTS 6 to those offering white-labelled algorithms is clear, but concerns over how to manage third party documentation and governance were debated. Real-time surveillance too was discussed, along with the benefits of the analytics these platforms can reveal.
